The history of the Baht.
The Thai Baht (THB) originated from the traditional unit system like the pound of the British. Up until 1897, when the decimal system was introduced. For several years, the Baht had linked itself to many currencies. Fortunately, in 1997 when the Asian Financial crisis occurred, the Baht had floated and gained valuable assets. The Thai Baht was named the Tical until 1925 when people started using the Baht for their currency. The Baht is one of the oldest currencies in the world, hence the total series of this currency is 17 denominations.
Currently, the latest Baht banknote series is in circulation in 2018. These are available at 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1 000 Baht notes. These featured a portrait of the present King of Thailand-King Maha Vajiralongkorn on the facade. Also other Kings of Thailand on the opposite side. The order of colors on this banknote also is the same as the previous series. Especially, the 500 and 1 000 Baht notes were in circulation as the anniversary of their current King’s birthday on 28 July 2018.
The Thai Baht had gained many achievements such as the best performing banknote currency in 2018 according to Bloomberg. Likewise, the Baht is considered the 10th most used payment currency.
